PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
 

The Singapore International Photography Awards (SIPA) is a worthy successor to the Singapore International Salon of Photography (SIP), which was organised annually by The Photographic Society of Singapore (PSS) for half a century until 2001.

SIPA follows the tradition of its predecessor in becoming an annual showcase of the work of leading photographers from different parts of the globe. It also reflects the diverse techniques employed by photographers using today's digital technologies.

PSS is pleased to collaborate with Koelnmesse, the organiser of Photokina, in presenting this year's SIPA show in conjunction with Imaging Expo Singapore 2007 trade exhibition and the Photo Imaging X-Change 2007 conference. The event will help to put Singapore in the forefront in the world of photography.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our partners from the photographic trade for their confidence in PSS. I am grateful to members of the 2007 SIPA organising committee, and the many volunteers, whose dedication and enthusiasm have helped PSS to successfully present this year's SIPA show. I would also like to thank all the participants, without whose support this significant international photo imaging event would not have been possible.

SALON CHAIRMAN'S MESSAGE
 

Like in the previous years, the 2007 Singapore International Photography Award (SIPA) continues to attract entries from different parts of the world. This annual competition, the 54 th in its series, has become a significant international event which is well participated by some of the world's leading photographers.

An international photographic event of this scale could not have been possible, if not for the strong support of our business partners, and the participants. To them, I say thank you.

I am also grateful to members of the 54 th SIPA Committee for their hard work in ensuring the success of this event. This year, we are privileged to have more judges of different background to select the entries. I would like to thank them as well for undertaking the onerous task of choosing the winners.

For those visiting the SIPA exhibition, which is held in conjunction with the Photo Imaging X-Change 2007, may I wish them an enjoyable experience.
