Conditions of Entry

 

  • All entries must be submitted in digital JPEG format.
  • Each entrant may submit in all 5 sections, up to 4 entries
    per section. Entrant MUST NOT submit the same entry in
    other sections.
  • Images shot on film MUST be scanned into digital format.
  • Entrant must ensure that the digital images are properly
    burnt into the CD-ROM.
  • The images must be in 8-BIT JPEG format. The image
    dimensions MUST be minimum 2000 pixels on the longer
    side of the image with minimal JPEG compression.
  • Each image must be personal and exclusive work of the
    entrant.
  • The file name coding, ONLY IN ENGLISH, MUST NOT
    have more than 25 characters, in 3 groups.
    - The first group is the ISO country code in 2 characters
    (list available on http://www.iana.org/cctld/cctid/whois.
    htm) followed by a hyphen.
    - The second group is the author’s name truncated to
    maximum 10 letters, followed by a hyphen.
    - The third group is the sequential number for the photo
    according to the respective section.
    i.e. PC1 to PC4, BW1 to BW4 or TC1 to TC4.
    - Only figures, letters and hyphen are allowed, and the
    letters must be in BLOCK letters.
    For example:
    Tan Ah Lian from Singapore may be either
    SG-AHLIAN-PC1, SG-AHLIAN-PC3 or SG-AHLIAN-TC4

  • Works for all five sections MUST be submitted on a single
    CD-ROM, which is non-returnable.
  • The filename must be consistent to what is written on the
    entry form.
  • The CD-ROM must be sent together with the entry form
    and the fees to the Salon Chairman. The fees can be
    wrapped in black paper or carbon paper and sent together
    with the CD-ROM.
  • The Society will not be held responsible should errors
    occur while reading the digital information from the CDROM
    presented.
  • Any modification of the original image must be made by
    the Entrant or under his personal direction.
  • Digital manipulations in all sections, except Digital
    Experimental Colour, should be kept to a minimum where
    the reality of the image should not be distorted.
  • Creative digital manipulation is encouraged mainly in the Digital Experimental Colour section.
  • Entries not accompanied by the entry fee will not be judged
    and considered disqualified.
  • Any image previously accepted in the PSS Singapore
    International Salon or PSS National Photographic
    Exhibition/ ASEAN Salon is not eligible for submission.
  • Judges are not allowed to participate in this Salon.
  • An entry may be rejected when the Salon committee, in its
    reasonable discretion, believes the entry does not conform
    to exhibition rules and conditions.
  • Care will be taken to protect the entries, however, PSS shall not be held responsible for any entry which is lost or damanged. Proof of delivery does not signify proof of receipt of the entries.
  • The Society reserves the right to reproduce any image for publication, in a CD-ROM catalogue, on an Internet website and/or display in media related to the Salon without payment on any fees to the exhibitor.
  • Entry fee MUST be enclosed with each entry form as follows:

  • For entry fee, we accept the following mode of payment to
    be sent with the CD-ROM
    (1) Cash payment must be paid in US/Singapore dollars
    only.
    (2) Local Singapore cheques MUST be made payable to
    “The Photographic Society of Singapore”
  • A Salon CD-ROM, INCLUDING A BOOKLET
    PRESENTING THE AWARD WINNING WORKS WITH
    AUTHOR’S NAMES, TITLES OF THE PHOTOGRAPH
    AND LIST OF ACCEPTED ENTRIES AND AUTHOR’S
    NAMES, will be sent to each participant.
  • Notification will be sent by mail or email.
  • Late entries shall not be judge. Fees submitted for late
    submission shall be used for return of catalogue at the end
    of the Salon.
  • The decision of the judges is final. No correspondence shall
    be entertained.
  • The submission of entries signifies the entrant’s acceptance
    of the Conditions of Entry.
  • This Salon is conducted in conformity with FIAP regulations.
    Acceptance and awards will be taken into account for the
    FIAP distinctions.
  • Photocopies of the Entry Forms are acceptable.
